I have received over 50 emails in the past two weeks
on this subject it might be because if you have not noticed yet at
the bottom of each newsletter I always add (Remember to exchange
links very important) and it is so lets get into this subject a
little more in depth.
First what is the most important reason to have
reciprocal links ?????????? if you answered page rank
YOU ARE WRONG page rank is a by product of
reciprocal links and only when it is done correctly.
Also keep in mind what I have said before in earlier
newsletters you do not have to have page rank to achieve a top 10
position in the search engines although it does help.
The main reason or should I say the main benefit of
having your website link splattered all over the internet is simple
and it is called Increased Traffic To Your Website Period !
Look at it this way by having your link on lets say 10.000 other
websites that's 10.000 more chances that someone out there is going
to click on your link and bingo you have extra traffic with a
increased potential of a sale or what ever.
How And Where To
Link
Linking to other websites is a lot easier than most
people think it is you just need to use a little common sense if I
have a site and I am marketing boat engines and you request a link
exchange with me and you are marketing arts and crafts do you think
I am going to want to exchange links with you?? not in your wildest
hallucinations will I ever do that.
The reason is very clear if I sell boat engines and
you sell arts and crafts and someone visits your arts and crafts
website and see my link about boat engines do you think they are
going to click my link I don't think so if they wanted a site about
boat engines they would have looked up a website for that subject.
Ok so for you folks out there that would like to
know what would be good site to link to if you were selling boat
engines here is a very simple 100% guaranteed method I use to find
my link exchange websites with first I go to Google adwords keyword
suggestions site here is the link.

Now type in boat engines and here is what you get
below.

- used boat engines
- mercury boat
engines
- mercruiser boat
engines
- honda boat
engines
- used diesel boat
engines
- service for boat
engines
- bpm boat engines
See where I highlighted some words in red if these
are in your text in your website of for that matter any of the words
in the above search terms the search engines will give you extra
points for the links because they are so relevant to your site.
But the best part is if your link is on these pages
and someone visits them your website will be related to their site
therefore the odds of someone clicking on your link are greatly
increased because they went to that site for boat engines in the
first place now I understand a lot of sites do not want to put a
link on their site that is direct competition but some will.
Also if I were selling Johnson boat engines for
example it could be placed on all the above sites.
Now make no mistake getting quality links can take
some time and effort but it will pay off in the long run and here is
what you need to do type in one of the above search terms above or
what ever relates to your site in a search engine.
Now look the site over does it have a link exchange
page if it does look at it, now look at the links are they all
related in some way? DON'T WORRY ABOUT PAGE RANK
Ok now look at the html or hit view source it must
have these things to be picked up by a search engine you always want
to put your link on a site that can be picked up by a search engine
and these are the basics below that the link site must have.

A title and a description are the main two things
the title being the most important and if you don't see these two
things don't waste your time asking for a link exchange.
Ok the site meets all the requirements for you to
ask for a link exchange simply send them a email with a complete
description of your website as well as your url and the title tell
them to visit your site look it over also let them know that you
feel that your site would compliment theirs etc..
This is important make sure that anyone who
visits their website can find their link page in no more than 2
clicks from the main site this way it is sure to be picked up by the
search engines faster or should I say your link will be.
Do not I will repeat this DO NOT get your link
placed on a website that has more than 50 links on the page or has a
lot of different categories if you are selling boat engines that's
all the links better be about on the link page or related subjects I
found this out the hard way, I have tried to get my link removed
from some sites and for some reason they will not remove it this
is from my past mistakes.
Myths About Page
Rank And Links
To make this a simple explanation I am just going to
say this I would much rather have my link on a website that has only
5 links on the link page with no page rank at all BUT is totally
related to my site than have my link on a site with a page rank of 5
with 2000 links.
This applies only if the website with no page rank
is indexed into the search engines already you see reciprocal
linking is going to benefit the person who places my link as well
myself because our website are so closely related the we both deal
in boat engines this is a QUALITY LINK.
KEEP IN MIND THAT PAGE MAY NOT HAVE PAGE RANK NOW
BUT IT WILL IN TIME
Put another way if you look around on the internet
you will find that some websites have a higher page rank than others
with LESS LINKS LEADING TO THEM the reason is clear they were
very picky who they linked to this is why blasting your link to all
the FFA pages really will not do you any good and here are a few of
the reasons below.
Number 1 all the links are not related not to
mention your link will get removed in a short time and lets not
forget the main reason for reciprocal linking in the first place it
is FREE
ADVERTISING NOT PAGE RANK tell me how many times have you went to a
FFA page to get some information?
Getting back to page rank there are a lot of factors
that go into the formula of how page rank is determined not just the
amount of links that lead to a website I have had people actually
email me back and tell me when I get a page rank of 5 they will link
to me.
WAKE UP the rules have changed on page rank Google
recognized the problems it was starting to cause and changed some of
the rules on page rank in a nut shell by linking to a website with
high page rank does not mean it is going to add points to your
website not at all and vice versa.
If you have a website that is related to mine no
matter what the page rank is I will link to you it is that simple
you see when my link is found on lets say 100 other websites on the
internet I become more important and so will you if you do the same.
By your link being found all over the internet in
related websites is what will get you page rank in the first place
and the less links the website owner has on the page that your link is on the better,
you see building page rank is like growing a garden it takes time.
If your link is on a site with 100 other links it
will be less important to the search engines not to mention a human
looking at the page than a website with only 5 links on it do the
math if your looking at a website with 100 links and a site with 5
links and your link is on both pages ask yourself this question what site do you think
your link has the most chance of being clicked the one with 100
links or the one with 5 links??
Remember It Is
All About Traffic Not Page Rank
Now ask yourself this question when the search
engine looks at those websites which site stands a better chance for
your link to be seen by the search engine TO GET EXTRA POINTS to
help your ranking the site with 100 links or the site with 5 links?
But the site with 100 links has a page rank of 5 and
the one with 5 links does not have any page rank at all WHO CARES
your link for the most part may never be picked up on the site with
100 links because almost all the engines out there today will not
spider past the first 50 links.
Now if your link was guaranteed to be in the top
positions of the links on the page with the 100 links on it that would
help you some but you will find this is very rare indeed.
The truth is most of the link pages out there will
place you in the top positions but as links are added your link
position keeps getting lower and lower in the page and before to
long it is buried so deep in the website that it will never get
picked up not to mention ever get clicked.
And here is the funny part everyone is chasing that
website with a page rank of 5 or higher because they believe that high page
rank is going to help them but it is the fact of it having good page rank
which attracts everyone wanting to link with them so your link
pushed further and further down the website that much faster with
the end result being no benefit to you whatsoever.
